Thank you to everyone who participated in the Elly Awards Virtual Gala!

The 2021 Elly Awards virtual celebration brought the organization’s mission to life by featuring short films that told the stories of Steeltown and highlighted the evening’s award recipients. The evening culminated with the announcement that WQED and Steeltown have forged a transformative new partnership to provide greater inclusivity of voices in Pittsburgh’s filmmaking community. Additionally, WQED welcomes Steeltown to their neighborhood, as Steeltown will soon be relocating its facilities to WQED’s studios in Oakland.

Hosted by local celebrities Daisy Jade and FRZY, Steeltown’s annual Elly Awards Gala honored Pittsburgh’s entertainment pioneers and rising talent. Named after Steeltown’s late founder, Ellen Weiss Kander, the event gathered community leaders, educators, and entertainment industry professionals.

Graduating High School Seniors from Steeltown’s Teen Film Crew, producers of “The Reel Teens Pittsburgh” were also honored during the event.
